President’s Message
By: Grace Bower
April 2008
Are you tired of the snow yet? The mountains are so beautiful. We are really fortunate we live in the beautiful Carson Valley!
I hope you all enjoyed our melodrama, “Whistlestop III.” Sue and John Smith and the whole gang did a great job. The melodrama seems to be our best fundraiser each year.
The fundraising committee is getting organized to put on more programs to raise much needed funds and to bring you fun entertainment. I encourage you to attend as many of our events as you can. Our fundraisers pay a big part of our expenses, and we want you to have a good time! Pick up a calendar of events the next time you come in, or look up the dates on our website. Beginning in June, we will be having a flea market two times a month. Get your “junque” together and join us. Applications can be picked up at the museum in Gardnerville.
The Van Sickle Library is under renovation and volunteers are putting plastic covers on all the books. Shannon Hickey is working with our curator, Ellen Martin, organizing the library and entering titles into the computer.
The exhibit committee is starting on an exciting new project on the western movement. The committee will also be working on a new addition for the jail in Genoa. In April, they will be spending most of their time in Genoa, getting it ready for their opening on May 3.
And, don’t worry, by the time our next newsletter comes out, it will be warm!
