ELEVENTH ANNUAL GALLERY OF TREES

Although it is only October, the Holidays are rapidly approaching. Now is the time to sign up to furnish one of the decorated Christmas Trees which will be on display in the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center in Gardnerville during the month of December.

Anyone can register to provide a tree – individuals, schools, organizations or businesses. This could be an excellent project for youth groups or charitable organizations, art galleries or gift shops. The possibilities are endless.

The rules are:

  • Entries must be received by November 17, 2007 at 4 PM. There is no entry fee.
  • Trees must be artificial, no smaller than 4 feet and no taller than 8 feet.
  • Mini-lights must be used. Please, no glitter and no fake snow.
  • Entrants must provide all decorations, lights and extension cords. Ornaments may not be sold while trees are on display.
  • Entrants are encouraged to adopt a theme for both the tree and the area immediately under the tree.
  • Trees must be set up November 26 or November 30 from 10 AM to 3 PM. All trees must be removed by January 3, 2008, from 10 AM to 3 PM.
  • Public display of the trees will be from December 2 through December 29, 2007.

During the public viewing, visitors to the museum as well as all those attending the December 2 Holiday Gala will be encouraged to vote for their favorite trees. Voting is done by inserting quarters into collection bins set up by each tree. The winning tree will be the one that earns the most money and will be announced in a January 2008 issue of The Record Courier.

Entry forms are now available at the reception desk at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center, 1477 Hwy 395 N, Gardnerville, NV 89410, Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM. If you need further information, please call 782-2555.
